Wellman Products Group employs a plethora of advanced equipment including dynamometers and data collection systems. We have an impressive collection of plant, property, and equipment focused on supporting our operations.
Wellman Products Group maintains 27 dynamometers worldwide with a vast majority located at the Solon, Ohio Research & Development center that provide simulations of real-world conditions for various applications. We also develop close working relationships with our customers' testing centers and engineering groups which enables an efficient channel for data exchange and test evaluation.

Wellman's dynamometers range from the smaller material evaluation units (5 hp) to full-scale computer controlled data-acquisition units (600 hp and up) capable of testing wet or dry applications for transmission, clutch, or brake systems. We are able to simulate the speeds and inertia of vehicles ranging from golf carts to heavy mining trucks and everything in between. Some units even simulate the highly aggressive landing scenarios for commercial aircraft or the extreme braking conditions of NASCAR race teams.
Wellman also explores friction material limitations beyond normal application parameters by changing speeds, energies, lubricants, and pressures. Ultimately, all of our screening tests are used to narrow the list of material options for a given application.
Wellman's R&D center has the means to duplicate all of the processes that are used in our manufacturing plants allowing us to factually define process parameters before a new part or material is brought online. This capability enables us to go from prototype to full scale production with ease.
